2017 Waste Management Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally Sanctioned by: American Rally Association June 2-3, 201
Wellsboro, Penn.
Rally Notes #4 – Friday evening/Sat. mid-day

13. The Super Special Stages at the Fairgrounds attracted a huge crowd, and the rally competitors did not disappoint, using the whole course and then some to plow through to makeshift course crafted from a rodeo ring.

14. For the Saturday morning start at the Green in Wellsboro, 42 cars left town for stage #6. As there was no re-seed overnight, David Higgins is still first on the road even though Travis Pastrana won the day on the stages yesterday. There will be a re-seed at service in Germania after stage #10 based on stage results through stage seven.

15. The rally was delayed at the back third of the field when an unauthorized vehicle refused to obey marshal instructions and tried to enter the stage road while the stage was still hot. The forest service asked the rally to close the stage so they could hunt down the vehicle and apprehend the driver. STPR radio operators helped DCNR put the word out to help them find the vehicle. The affected cars behind the incident transited the remainder of the stage.

16. Safety marshal reported a car fire 7.37 miles into stage #6. Car #229, a Ford Fiesta with driver Chris Cyr and co-driver Eric Grochowski, was fully engulfed with flames. Both the driver and the co-driver quickly exited the vehicle, and were unhurt, and the fire department arrived quickly and extinguished the flames. The team was the last car on the road, so no rally traffic was affected. DCNR enlisted the help of the STPR radio operators to put out the word describing the vehicle to they could find the driver.
