A New Build and a New Championship
Jeff Seehorn stormed onto the rally scene a few short years ago displaying amazing car control and fastest stage times in an older Super Production car.
Now in his third year of competition, Jeff and his championship winning co-driver Karen Jankowski are stepping up their game with a new car and a committed effort to win the American Rally Association Championship in the Restricted Open class.
The American Rally Association (ARA) and its championships are new for 2017 and the team is very excited to compete in its first year.
“It’s going to be even more exciting this season as we are competing in the brand new ARA championship but in events we are familiar with,” Jankowski said. “It will be very competitive all season so consistency and building on last year’s momentum will be key for Jeff and me.”
Both driver and co-driver are excited about moving into the Restricted Open class.
“This new Restricted Open cars are lighter and stronger, allowing me the confidence to drive harder and faster. What’s not to like?!” Seehorn said with a smile about the move to a different class.
Seehorn also said his goal for winning the championship requires what he calls the “Fs” of rallying.
“Finish every event, be First at the Finish, and have Fun!” he said.
The Seehorn Rally team has been hard at work during the off season prepping their new Subaru. With an engine built by Fishhead Performance and a Motec ECU package from John Reed Racing the #56 Seehorn Rally Team Subaru WRX STI will have the power it needs to take on the best of the best in their class.
“One key to our success has been Fishhead Performance who has been with me since the very beginning. They have not only provided excellent tuning that has helped us be fast but also reliable,” Seehorn explained. “In addition they are always there when we need them. You couldn’t ask for a better partner than Fishhead Perfomance. We are so excited to have their support again this season.”
Delivering all that power to the rough rally roads will require maximum traction which is why the Seehorn Rally Team has partnered with MAXXIS tires.
“There are a lot of choices when it comes to rally tires we can run,” Seehorn said. “Only one choice however makes sense for us which is Maxxis as they have provided us great tires for the past several seasons with the variety of compounds especially important in a championship like ARA where every event has different types of roads. They can be rough, rocky, smooth, slippery, full of loose gravel, and everything in between. MAXXIS Tires coupled with our Method Wheels are a winning combination.”
The Seehorn Rally Team’s bid for the class title will see them crisscrossing the nation for thefive USA rounds of the championship. The first stop is April 21st – 23at the Oregon Trail Rally in Portland, Oregon.
With the help of these partners the Seehorn Rally Team feels like they have a platform with the ability to not only win their class, but potentially make it to the overall podium as well.
